Registration open date: May 29, 2024
Course
Belmont Golf Club (formerly Downers Grove)
The Belmont Golf Club holds a significant place in U.S. History. In 1892, Charles Blair Macdonald, the grandfather of American golf, persuaded thirty of his Chicago Club colleagues to contribute ten dollars each to design and construct a nine-hole golf course in Downers Grove, Illinois, at Belmont Road. At this original site of the Chicago Golf Club, Macdonald designed nine more holes for the course in 1893, making it the first 18-hole course in the United States.
